But for an MK who comes to work, these aren't supposed to be days off, but time for meetings, handling public inquiries, using parliamentary tools, and above all: getting out of the building and checking for yourself what's happening in the country. 🟡 But when MKs don't publish a schedule (and that's the case for the vast majority of them) - it's hard to know. I dream of fixing this too: I will publish my public activity schedule on an ongoing basis and work to make it the standard in the Knesset. We work for you. It's absurd that you have no idea what we're doing a third of the time. * So what will I do on the two "free" days, as far as the schedule and professional meetings allow? I'll use my political power for those who have no power of their own. Examples: 1️⃣ I want to reach the populations who have it the very hardest in the world. The harder it is for them - the more I want to be there. Homeless people and at-risk youth. Refugees and their children. Institutions in distressed neighborhoods, etc. I want to understand what's stuck, and how we can ease things for the most disadvantaged people there are. 2️⃣ A special spotlight on prisons: what happens to female prisoners raising babies in prison, and to prisoners? Prison is supposed to protect the public but also make sure that whoever is released *returns to society and not to crime*. Denial of freedom of movement is an insane punishment. And still, that's only the starting point of what they go through: female prisoners live amid urine and vomit, as was exposed at Neve Tirza (link in the comments). It makes it hard for me to fall asleep at night. Facing Ben-Gvir's fascism, my choice is precisely to help them. 🟦 And this isn't an empty promise. Knesset members have an important tool exactly for this kind of oversight: Section 9(a) of the Immunity Law grants politicians broad freedom of movement and access to places closed to the public. Unfortunately, few have used this power (I'll give credit to Moshe Arbel of Shas and my friend on the list Gaby Lasky). I intend to use this authority to the fullest. 3️⃣ I want to reach places where those who suffer can't tell at all what they're going through: animals.
