Otzma Yehudit (Jewish Power)

Otzma Yehudit (Jewish Power) is a far-right religious-nationalist party led by National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, widely seen as the heir of Meir Kahane's movement. It entered the Knesset in 2021 on a joint list with Bezalel Smotrich's party and won six of that list's 14 seats in 2022. In 2026 it runs alone, polling well above Smotrich's list at roughly 6–9 seats, with former Likud MK Tally Gotliv at no. 2.

Otzma Yehudit ("Jewish Power") is a far-right, religious-nationalist party led by Itamar Ben-Gvir. It is widely described as the ideological heir of Rabbi Meir Kahane's Kach movement, which was barred from the Knesset in 1988 and later outlawed as a terrorist organization; its organizational roots go back to Baruch Marzel's Jewish National Front (2004). It ran as Otzma LeYisrael in 2013 and with Yahad in 2015, failing the threshold both times, joined the Union of Right-Wing Parties in April 2019, and ran alone in September 2019 and 2020, again below the threshold. In 2021 Otzma Yehudit entered the Knesset for the first time through a joint list with Bezalel Smotrich's Religious Zionist Party and Noam, and in 2022 the same alliance won 14 seats, six of them Otzma Yehudit's. The party joined Netanyahu's sixth government, with Ben-Gvir as Minister of National Security, Yitzhak Wasserlauf as Minister for the Negev, Galilee and Periphery and Amichai Eliyahu as Heritage Minister. It quit the government in January 2025 in protest at the Gaza ceasefire and hostage deal and returned in March 2025 when fighting resumed. It campaigns for the death penalty for terrorists, settlement expansion and annexation of the West Bank, "voluntary emigration" of Gazans, and changing the status quo on the Temple Mount. For the 2026 election Otzma Yehudit runs on its own, having polled consistently around 8–10 seats, well above Smotrich's party. Notable 2026 changes: Likud MK Tally Gotliv joined at No. 2; MK Zvika Fogel did not seek reelection, and his place in the realistic part of the list went to English-language advocate Yishai Fleisher (No. 12); Ben-Gvir's chief of staff Hanamel Dorfman (No. 7) and activist Tzachi Eliyahu (No. 8) drew press attention, the latter for a Kach tattoo.
