He lost half of his squad there. He lost his partner, Bar Yankelov, of blessed memory, who charged at a terrorist and took a bullet to the head before his eyes. He saw Regev Amar, of blessed memory, lying wounded and half-paralyzed inside a kill zone, shouting to the friends who tried to extract him: "Guys, I'm already dead, don't come." Supreme, inconceivable heroism. But when the battle ended, Noam found himself facing a deep breakdown. Something inside him cracked. On his trip in the East, he began listening to podcasts and things started to fall into place, When you are only an "Israeli" whose history began in 1948 - you lose the justification for your existence, and the words "it's not realistic" become policy. I told Noam in our conversation: the attempt to flee from our Jewish identity to an invented civic identity - is what brought this misguided war upon us. The work will not be completed, and this war will not truly end, until we give this wonderful generation - the generation of lions that sacrificed the best of its sons - among them my beloved grandson Yair, may God avenge his blood - the leadership it deserves, a leadership that understands that this is only our land and will therefore know how to win. During the election campaign I set a goal of forming a Zionist, statesmanlike government with the broadest possible national consensus, one that will bring healing and fundamental change in the direction Israel is heading. I consistently set out 4 principles that will strengthen Israel, for any partnership: 1. Recognition of Israel as a Jewish, democratic, liberal and egalitarian state. 2. Commitment to the values of the Declaration of Independence. 3. A duty of service for all of Israel's citizens – military, national and civilian. 4. Recognition of Hamas as a terrorist organization and of the duty to destroy its military-governing power in the Gaza Strip. On the basis of these principles, I intend to form a Zionist and statesmanlike government, as broad as possible. To that end I will act in coordination with my partners and work to broaden the partnership, in order to realize the will of the voters and immediately improve the internal and international standing of the State of Israel. Any Knesset member who is willing to sign on to these principles is a possible partner on the path to establishing a new and good government for Israel. He saw Regev Amar, of blessed memory, lying wounded and half-paralyzed inside a kill zone, shouting to the friends who tried to extract him: "Guys, I'm already dead, don't come."
