Ram Ben-Barak, born in Nahalal in 1958, served in Sayeret Matkal, joined the Mossad in 1984 and was its deputy head (2009–2011), later director-general of the Intelligence and Strategic Affairs ministries. He joined Yesh Atid in 2018 and has been an MK since 2019, chairing the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee in 2021–2022. In March 2024 he narrowly lost Yesh Atid's leadership primary to Yair Lapid (308–279).
