Eisenkot keeps saying that he doesn't meet the criteria of the Zionist parties, and he keeps mentioning the ultra-Orthodox and the Arabs. But it turns out that maybe this wasn't a mistake. The faction within Agudat Yisrael affiliated with the Gur Hasidic dynasty, the second-largest in the party, currently has two Knesset members, Yitzhak Goldknopf and Yaakov Tesler. According to sources within the Hasidic community, they do not intend to vote against a government headed by Eisenkot. Now tell me why. Did we give them something? First, of course they're hoping for something, but beyond that, they want to signal to Netanyahu that his time is up. As far as the Gerrer Rebbe, the head of Gur, is concerned, Netanyahu is finished, so they won't oppose a government headed by Eisenkot. That's one. Second, they're convinced that all of Agudat Yisrael, the Hasidic faction, will be with them. Third, they believe that ultimately even Degel HaTorah, the Lithuanian faction, will abstain, so that all the Ashkenazi ultra-Orthodox are together. Why? Because of the great anger toward Netanyahu. I have to say that I don't know about Degel HaTorah, nor do I know about the rest of Agudat Yisrael. Just yesterday, Rabbi Hirsch, spoke about the need to do everything possible to prevent the left from gaining strength. Some interpreted this to mean the political left, rather than the forces of the Sitra Achra, the "Other Side" of Jewish mysticism, the realm of impurity and evil, which is often how the word "left" is used in ultra-Orthodox discourse. To sum up the whole story: up until now, we've said that Netanyahu's insurance policy against the swearing-in of an Eisenkot government after the elections is to reach a tie between the blocs, 54-54. That way Netanyahu can feel secure and sleep relatively peacefully at night. Now he needs to surpass the Eisenkot bloc by two seats.

(שכזכור אפילו אותה החרדים טרפדו) ומצד החרדים - מעבר לגיוס, אין היתכנות לשבת בקואליציה של שונאי דת רדיקלים, שהבטחותה הבחירות שלהם זה לחרב, לחלל ולטמא את כל הקדוש והיקר. מקווה שח"כ אשר והנציגים החדשים במפלגה ידלגו הפעם על הקשקוש המעיק הזה, יתמקדו בעשיה חיובית ומועילה ויפנימו גם כי הציבור שאותו הם מייצגים הוא ימני ברובו המוחלט.

As for the draft law. It's true that Netanyahu dragged out the time at the beginning of the term, when he didn't bother to pass the law before the budget as he committed to in the coalition agreement, but it must be remembered that the ones who thwarted the law in the end were the Haredim. Even if they wanted to, the Haredim can't sit in a left-wing government. With whom exactly would they sit? With Mansour Abbas and Yair Golan? With Liberman and the wheelbarrow? With Gilad Kariv, the Reform and the LGBT? So it's true that when the left wants, there's a special trash bin for ideology and there's a blank white page, but now the page is already black and full. Black with hatred and full of insults and commitments. So you'll say right away, we've seen that commitments are not something that will stop them. To move Netanyahu they'll agree to anything - including everything. In principle true and more than that, but for the two main reasons I listed above there is no realistic feasibility for it. On the left's side - after October 7 and the poison campaign they ran, they are hamstrung on the draft law issue. They won't be able to give a better offer than the one that was on the table in recent months. (Which, as you'll recall, even that the Haredim torpedoed) And on the Haredi side - beyond the draft, there's no feasibility of sitting in a coalition of radical religion-haters, whose election promises are to destroy, desecrate and defile everything holy and dear. I hope MK Asher and the new representatives in the party will skip this tiresome nonsense this time, focus on positive and useful work and also internalize that the public they represent is overwhelmingly right-wing.

But in Maklev's case we're talking about a real public servant. I won't forget the days when I would leave the Knesset at 23:00 at night, all the lights already off, and suddenly from one corridor I would see a thin man with a jacket draped somewhat carelessly over his shoulders coming out with only one aide with him. What are you doing here at such an hour, I would ask every time, and he would answer: we had to finish answering public inquiries and helping. For now the emerging decision is to replace only Gafni and Maklev. The one pulling the strings – the person leading the move, who may become the most powerful man as a result, and even become the de facto controller of the party apparatus of the Haredi-Lithuanian party - is David Shapira, the grandson of Rabbi Steinman. Shapira holds significant influence over the party's mouthpiece, "Yated Ne'eman," through the newspaper's owner, tycoon Shimon Glick. At the same time, he also enjoys considerable power in Rabbi Lando's house and in the Olam HaTorah fund. What they call: Capital. Government. Newspaper. – The Haredi version also includes control of the entire apparatus. The criticism – what raises questions is the way the move is being carried out – in the dark, and mainly while cut off from Knesset members who led the party on behalf of the rabbis for decades, and without convening the Council of Torah Sages, any formal procedure, or even holding an open dialogue with the rabbis.
